Theater History □ I can identify the origins of theater. □ I can identify and apply key elements of different historical styles (Greek, Roman, Renaissance, Medieval, Spanish Golden Age, Kabuki, Commedia Del Arte, French Neo-Classicism, Elizabethan, Restoration, and Contemporary) in a performance. Shakespeare Performance □ I can identify iambic pentameter, prose, poetry, imagery, upward, downward, and sustained inflection. □ I can show Ms. Cotten I know the historical background of Shakespeare and his plays and sonnets. □ I can analyze my Shakespeare scene or monologue using my knowledge of plot and show, word meaning, scansion—how to take text apart, meter, words, punctuation, and imagery. □ I can perform my scene or monologue at the Evening of Shakespeare. □ I can demonstrate how to audition for Shakespeare (audition will be used for the class play) by performing two contrasting Shakespeare monologues. Term 3Script Writing Unit

Audition Unit □ I can use the audition techniques I learned in Drama Foundations and Drama 1. □ I can use the 3x5 card system to help me build a resource for audition pieces. □ I can identify and use audition etiquette as they are used for musical auditions. □ I can perform a 2 minute audition using contrasting pieces (either two monologues or a monologue and a song). |
Term 2Characters/Objectives & Tactics Unit
□ I can use the characterization techniques I learned in Drama 1 to create a character in a dramatic scene AND a comedic scene. □ I can write a powerful objective statement. □ I can show Ms. Cotten I know how to apply characterization, objectives, tactics, and active listening in a dramatic and a comedic scene. □ I can define subtext. □ I can apply subtext in both my scenes. Term 4Directing

I can show Ms. Cotten I know the process for putting together a production. □ I can show Ms. Jennings I know the technical logistics of producing a show. □ I can show my classmates I know how to work in an ensemble by meeting all my deadlines, by bringing any essential props or costumes, and by doing all my pre-production work outside of class time. □ I can help with both days of in-class performances by participating in acting, directing, tech theater, or a combination of the three areas.
